Costa Mesa Stabbing: On Tuesday, June 11, a 22-year-old man died tragically in Costa Mesa. This happened due to a fatal stabbing, allegedly by Israel Antonio Valencia, 25. Detectives labeled it as gang-related. The incident occurred on Placentia Avenue, in the 1700 block. The Costa Mesa police were called to an assault with a deadly weapon.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation
According to court records, Israel Antonio Valencia faces a murder charge for a stabbing. Before this, he also assaulted a 19-year-old man near Placentia Avenue and Shalimar Drive. The victim had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by his family.
Detectives arrested Valencia and his 18-year-old partner on Thursday after identifying them as suspects. The 18-year-old has not been charged yet. Valencia’s arraignment at Westminster Superior Court is set for July 12. The reason for the attack is still unknown.
The victim’s name is being kept secret for now. This is to allow time for further investigation and to inform the family.
