We announce with great sadness the passing of Dolores May Russo Lightcap, a long-time Post 86 Family member and dedicated Auxiliary Unit 86 member. Dolores passed away peacefully at 92, surrounded by her loving family in Rockville, Maryland.

Dolores was born in Far Rockaway, New York, to Andrew and Camilla Russo. She was the beloved wife of William Lightcap. Dolores is survived by four children: Jeff, Steve and his wife Tammy, Carolyn and her husband Mark, and Gregg. She also leaves behind grandchildren including David, Buddy and his wife Lauren, Cori and her husband Paul, Lauren, Luke, Lindsey, Sam, and the late Tyler. Additionally, Dolores is survived by great-grandchildren Antonio, Kennedi, Harper, Sloane, and Finley, as well as many other family members.

A Commitment to Serving Others

Dolores was actively involved in the Auxiliary Unit 86 of the Rockville American Legion Post 86, dedicating her time and energy to supporting veterans, active military personnel, and their families. Her unwavering dedication and selfless service were a shining example to all, and her contributions to the community will be deeply missed.

A Legacy of Love and Joy

Dolores and her husband Bill spent many weekends at The Legion, dancing the night away and spreading joy and love to everyone around them. Dolores’ radiant smile and the sound of her voice brought warmth to many lives. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy of love, joy, and service will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
