Anthony James of Tonto Basin, AZ, Found Dead After Being Missing Since June 11

Anthony James of Tonto Basin, Arizona, went missing on June 11 or 12, 2024. Sadly, he has been confirmed dead. The news was shared on Facebook. Jessica L. Cortez, his close friend, posted a touching message. She wrote, “My dear friend, Anthony James, you will always be in our hearts. I hope you are now at peace. You have my eternal love.”

Circumstances Surrounding His Disappearance

Anthony James left his home between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., last seen at 7 a.m. He took only his partner’s truck and his dog, Covi. He left behind his wallet, phone, and other belongings, which was concerning. This raised fears for his mental health, worrying he might harm himself and Covi. His partner mentioned that Anthony had mentioned taking Covi if he died, making his disappearance even more troubling.

Efforts to Locate Anthony

Before his disappearance, Anthony managed to inform his mother that he would be “above Roosevelt Lake, next to Angel Wings.” Despite a thorough search of the area by his family, they were unable to locate Anthony, Covi, or the truck. His partner speculated that Anthony might have disabled the tracking feature on the vehicle or moved out of service range, complicating search efforts. A bystander reported seeing the truck near a gate, though a colleague who searched the area twice did not spot it.

Community’s Grief and Search Efforts

Authorities quickly informed the local community about Anthony’s disappearance. They then started searching for him. Additionally, the Tonto Basin community and others were asked to stay alert. They were urged to report any sightings of Anthony or his car. Anthony was driving a white Ford Ranger with Arizona license plate BVD5437. He was with his dark gray lab, Covi.

The tragic confirmation of Anthony James’s death has deeply affected his friends, family, and the Tonto Basin community. As they mourn his loss, they remember him fondly and hope he has found peace. The community’s outpouring of love and support underscores the impact Anthony had on those around him.
