Jeep has officially announced plans for new Wagoneer 4xe variants, expanding their lineup of successful plug-in hybrids. These upcoming models will feature a range-extended powertrain similar to that of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The Ramcharger boasts a 92 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 4.4 seconds.
A key feature of the Ramcharger is its 3.6-liter V6 engine, which acts as a generator to extend the vehicle’s range to up to 690 miles. This engine can recharge the battery or work with it to provide maximum power to the wheels, although it does not directly drive the wheels.
The Wagoneer 4xe will incorporate aspects of this powertrain but will not be identical. Due to their shorter size and different usage needs, the Wagoneers are expected to have a smaller battery pack and a reduced range compared to the Ramcharger.
Pricing for the Wagoneer 4xe models has not been revealed, but they are expected to be on the higher end, with the current Wagoneer starting at $62,945 and the Grand Wagoneer at $91,945. The exact launch date for these new models has yet to be announced.
