On June 10, 2024, at around 6:10 p.m., Jim Fridell died in a two-car crash on U.S. 79, north of Camden. The Arkansas State Police’s initial report states that Jim was driving a 2021 Ford F-150 north. Suddenly, his truck crossed into the southbound lane and hit the front left of a 2012 Honda Accord. The Accord was driven by Anity Anthony, 51, also from Camden.

The impact made Anthony’s car stop on the southbound roadside. Meanwhile, Fridell’s truck halted in the inside southbound lane of U.S. 79. The crash happened just north of the U.S. 278 intersection. Both Anity Anthony and Fridell’s 81-year-old passenger, Mary, got hurt. They were taken to the Ouachita County Medical Center and UAMS for treatment.
